I’m excited to announce that the videos from the Allies Conference 2008 are now LIVE! Woo hoo! Unfortunately, we don’t have video of every seminar that took place, but we do have most of them. Here’s what we got:

Thank you all for being a part of the Allies Conference last month! All of us in Allies had a blast hanging out with you all and discussing youth ministry.
Next year: August 22, 2009
Allies decided that we will be doing this conference again next year on August 22, 2009. Mark it on your calendars!
Changes for next year
But, based on your evaluations and input, we’ll be doing it a bit differently. Here are some changes you can expect:
- We will start at 9:00 AM and end a bit earlier, around 3:00 or 3:30 PM.
- Cookies will be added to the menu!
- Now that we’ve done it once, Allies will push the RSVP and ramp up the advertising and publicity, especially in local areas.
- There will be an additional cost at the door to encourage RSVP and online registrations.
- A video team will be in place to record each session and archive later on our website.
- There will be training on engaging parenting class in the spiritual lives of their teens.
- We will sit no longer than 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes in one area.
- Breakout sessions will be expanded and integrated more intentionally.

Weekly LIVE Youth Ministry Conversations online
Also, as reminder, if you’re free on Fridays at 1:00 PM and looking for a way to regularly talk with other youth workers, check out the LIVE Youth Ministry Conversations. It’s free to participate and easy to join in, either via chat or calling in with your telephone. Last week we discussed “Evaluating the spiritual depth of our youth ministries,” which was actually very convicting. This Friday we have a special guest from Word of Life Ministries in New York who will give us both practical and educational training on “Working with students who suffer from depression and eating disorders.”

Two new potential Allies groups starting in MN

For those who are interested, there is a youth pastor near St. Cloud, MN, and also in Maple Grove, MN, who are interested in starting Allies youth worker networks in their community. We’ll be helping them launch sometime in the near future. If you’re interested in joining one of these groups, let us know.
Fun meeting on Lake Mary

Last week Allies met in Jeremy’s boat on Lake Mary for our weekly connection time. We had a great time fishing and just talking about random life stuff. Joe, Jeremy and Mark caught a total of 5 Bass, too.
This week, June 10, Allies will meet at Tim’s house at 9:00 PM. Jeremy Hallquist will be joining us to pick our brains about a youth worker network he’s working to establish in his community.
Boat meeting, second try

Since it was supposed to be cold and rainy, we met at Tim’s house last Tuesday instead of heading out on Jeremy’s boat. However, we’re gonna shoot for the boat meeting again this Tuesday weather permitting. Call Jeremy on Monday to find out where to meet him and his boat.

Next Tuesday, May 20, we’ll be having our Weekly Connection Allies meeting out on Jeremy Schneider’s boat, weather permitting. (Yeah, us youth pastors know how to do meetings like no one else!) Contact him on Monday just to confirm the meeting time and location.
Location change

Due to our normal meeting place at Time Square getting a little over-crowded and noisy lately, we decided to change locations for a while. Last week we met at the Covenant church, today we met at Lake Community and next week (May 6) we’ll meet at New Life Church.
